Lowe's and Eastbrook Homes Partnership Fills Niche and Fuels Forward Momentum in Local Home Building Industry

Plainfield, MI (PRWeb) February 16, 2007 -- Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse at 4297 Plainfield Avenue NE, Grand Rapids and Eastbrook Homes, West Michigan's largest home builder and developer have joined forces to offer a unique program for west Michigan residents interested in building their own home.

Eastbrook, who has been building homes and communities in the greater Grand Rapids and Lakeshore areas for over 40 years sees a natural fit with Lowe's, whose corporate message is "Let's Build Something Together." Eastbrook will unveil its retail display in the Plainfield Township store on February 16.     The 13' wide by 15' tall display is located near the Project Desk and will suggest the use of Eastbrook's Finish Your Interior (FYI) program to select a floor plan and start a home, and Lowe's customer support and materials to finish it.

The FYI Program gives a customer the opportunity to purchase a home at rough mechanical stage - and at 67% of the current retail market price - and complete it themselves. This program is available within Eastbrook communities or on a customer's lot within a set geographic area as defined by these perimeter points: northwest to the city of Whitehall, east through Newago and Howard City to M-91, south through Greenville to Hastings, west through Wayland to Holland, and north along the lakeshore.

Interested patrons will choose one of 20 available Eastbrook floor plans with prices starting from $77,043 and select their structural options up front. Lowe's Project Desk Staff will be trained in the Eastbrook Homes process and will assist clients with their floor plan selection. Eastbrook will provide pricing before the job starts so that there are no surprises at the closing table. Once the customer signs the purchase agreement, Eastbrook will dig the foundation and start the home - taking it through plumbing and heating but stopping before drywall. Lowe's will then provide the home owner with a detailed materials list and pricing sheet for the items needed to complete the home. Lowe's talented customer service members can help customers select everything from the basics like drywall and nails to the finishing touches - including doors, trim, cabinets, plumbing and light fixtures, to make their home uniquely theirs.

"For over 40 years Eastbrook Homes has offered west Michigan home buyers great value within a home - and a great neighborhood to call home," says Bob Sorensen, Eastbrook Corporate Development President. "We do realize though that not everyone wants to live within an established neighborhood. This program offers something of value to the buyer who might like to live in one of our floor plans but has their own home site. It is also a great opportunity for someone who possesses finishing skills and wants to do much of the work themselves to save money and get the self-satisfaction of completing their own home."

This partnership teams two industry leaders - one national, one local - that both share a common goal of delighting their customers. "This partnership is one way we are reaching out to the local community and trying to spur home building here in west Michigan," says Dave Wydock, Manager of the Plainfield Township Lowe's store. "Every week we have 12-15 customers in our store asking for our help in building their own home. My Project Desk team is extremely knowledgeable and this program is another great way that they can reach out to a customer base with unique needs."

Lowe's, which operates more than 1,375 stores in 49 states, has been helping their customers improve the places they call home for more than 60 years.
